In our pick verse today, we learn a lesson in just how far reaching the effects of sin will travel. If sin only affected the person who performs the action, then we would quickly claim they are reaping the destruction of their actions. However, sin is like a spider’s web that goes in a thousand different directions and snares the unsuspecting in the process. The merchants who are prepared to lament the death of the civilization is like that of the kings, it is based entirely on selfishness. As traders of goods, they were especially addicted to the rush of buying and selling. Now that no one buys their cargoes anymore, they, too, are suffering the consequences of their sinful actions which have led to their ruin.

Blessings
