Tuesday – January 9th – Revelation 18:12-13     -----

18:22) She bought great quantities of gold, silver, jewels, and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk, and scarlet cloth; things made of fragrant thyine wood, ivory goods, and objects made of expensive wood; and bronze, iron, and marble.
13) She also bought cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, olive oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle, sheep, horses, wagons, and bodies—that is, human slaves.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE MEASURE OF A SPIRITUAL LIFE IS NOT IN ITS ECSTASIES BUT IN ITS OBEDIENCE.*

Good Tuesday to you! Ooh what a great inspirational thought for us to grab ahold of on this wintery mix Tuesday. While many of us have experienced a mountaintop of spiritual connection with God, we can also all probably relate to the spiritual lows that come from the devil’s attempts to discredit said relationship. What we choose to focus on will be the difference between an attitude of blessing or a feeling of despair. Our obedience to God’s word, way, will, and when is the key to keeping us on a level plain of faithful discipleship.

In our pick verses today, John records a lengthy list of the cargoes being mourned over by the now bankrupt (materially and spiritually) merchants. The inventory of the twenty-nine items listed in these two verses parallels the list of Tyre’s goods listed in Ezekiel 27. The list describes imports to the city of Rome in the first century and John’s readers would certainly recognize this potential connection to the plight of the capital city. While listed here for John’s readers in his day and time, the complete list for the final Babylon destruction would be amended to include the discoveries of a higher tech civilization throughout the ages. It would have been improbably for God to give John a list that would make no sense to his readers, or even to the readers of our day. The bottom line take away is that nothing will escape from that which is influenced by corrupt businesses and economies in the last days.

Blessings
