Thursday – January 11th – Revelation 18:15-16 -----
18:15) The merchants who became wealthy by selling her these things will stand at a distance, terrified by her great torment. They will weep and cry out,
16) “How terrible, how terrible for that great city! She was clothed in finest purple and scarlet linens, decked out with gold and precious stones and pearls!
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
SATAN’S PRIMARY TOOL IS NOT AN ACTIVE SINNER BUT AN INACTIVE SAINT.*
Welcome to Thursday! Yesterday I gave a shout out to the primary ways to find out what is happening at SunRise. Today, I want to share with you the best way to connect with us for live-stream or on-demand worship service options. We house all our worship services, Journey of A Lifetime Bible studies, and any other special recorded event on the “SunRise Church O’Fallon” YouTube channel. I would also encourage you to take the extra step and join the 544 other folks who are “subscribers” to the channel. As a subscriber you can chose the option to be notified every time we post a new video, of any type, to the channel. What a great way to always be on top of the latest videos from SunRise.
In our pick verses today, John records the records the cries of the merchants as they realize their way of life is no longer valid. The merchant’s dirge includes the same three elements of woes as the lament of the kings in verse ten. Their grief is not for the loss of the city but for their loss of business and profit. Their lament includes a description of the purple, scarlet, gold, precious stones, and pearls that symbolized the attire of the prostitute city. Culture that is held unaccountable for its actions can easily become an uncontrollable monster which will eventually cannibalize itself.
Blessings
