Sunday – January 14th – Revelation 18:18 -----
18:18) They will cry out as they watch the smoke ascend, and they will say, “Where is there another city as great as this?”
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
A FAITH THAT FAILS BEFORE THE FINISH WAS FAULTY FROM THE FIRST.*
A very blessed Sunday to you! There are a couple of very important themes that traverse the Bible from cover to cover. One of those is covered in the little word “faith”. Only five letters in length this word conveys a meaning that is bigger than all outdoors. Faith is what God uses to confirm in us a relationship with Jesus. Faith is both a noun and a verb. It makes a statement about our peace of mind and is lived moment by moment in the actions and reactions of our lives. What a perfect day – worship day – for us to think about our faith and where it is going and growing in 2024.
In our pick verse today, John continues to record the closing words of the sea merchants as they witness firsthand the demise of their earthly gods of commerce. The blowing of the second judgment trumpet when a third of the sea was struck (8:8-9), and the outpouring of the second bowl of judgment when the whole sea was struck (16:3) occurred before John’s current witnessing of Babylon’s final collapse. The mariners thus had already been given notice of their impending ruin long before this moment. In their complete and utter denial of the current reality facing the earth, they are clamoring to find the next “Babylon” to pin their hopes for their continued power and prestige.
Blessings
