Wednesday – January 17th – Revelation 18:21 -----
18:21) Then a mighty angel picked up a boulder the size of a huge millstone. He threw it into the ocean and shouted, “Just like this, the great city Babylon will be thrown down with violence and will never be found again.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
FOR MOST OF US, FORGIVENESS COMES EASILY . . . AFTER WE’VE GOTTEN EVEN.*
Happy Wednesday to you! Our inspirational today is connected in the Daily Walk Bible with the ending of Genesis and the story of Joseph forgiving his brothers for their action of selling him into slavery. This tremendous act of forgiveness happened decades after the fact. Joseph went from hard times to blessed times over those years. When he finally had the chance to confront his brothers, he chose grace over revenge. What a great reminder of how God choose to forgive us instead of condemning us for our rebellious sinful actions. In the spirit of Joseph who might you need to show forgiveness to today, this week, in 2024?
In our pick verse today, John now encounters a third angelic speaker stepping forth to speak of the next part of civilization’s demise. Before speaking, the angel hurls a boulder the size of a milestone (about 20 inches in diameter and four inches thick, weighing a couple of hundred pounds) and threw it into the sea, symbolizing the conclusion of God’s trumpet judgments begun in chapter eight. The impending and complete destruction of Babylon is echoed by the words of this heavenly speaker. The corrupt human civilization remaining in the last days will not be reduced to ruins but will be wiped away from the face of the earth as it if never existed. Absolutely final is God’s judgment on those who stand against Him.
Blessings
