Thursday – January 25th – Revelation 19:5     -----

19:5) Then a voice came from the throne, saying, "Praise our God, all you His servants and those who fear Him, both small and great!"

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE TABLETS AT SINAI WERE GIVEN TO SHOW THE NEED FOR THE CROSS AT CALVARY.*

Good Thursday to you! Our inspirational thought for today does a great job of showing the connection between the prophecy of the Old Testament and the grace of the New Testament. It can be easy to dismiss the Old Testament as merely ancient and archaic stories about an angry God, while embracing the New Testament as revealing a new softer/gentler God. When the reality is God has never changed from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22. As we know from our readings in Revelation these past several months, God is tough on sin and will serve justice on those who refuse to follow His way, word, will, or His when. No different from day one to the end of days.

In our pick verse today, John hears and records the sounds of praise coming from the heavenly choir of angels, saints, and heavenly occupants. Interestingly, John uses here the Greek phrase, “praise our God” instead of the “hallelujah” from the previous verses. The unseen and unidentified speaker in this verse is leading an even larger choir of praise, hence the transition from Hebrew to Greek – hallelujah to praise God. This expansion of voices of praise reaches out of Heaven to include John’s readers (and us) as servants of God’s and as those who revere Him. This heavenly voice calls the faithful, both small and great, rich and poor, male and female, young and old, to praise God for who He is and what He has does. God is truly sovereign, and we are mere servants of the most high who are called now to live lives of praise and reverent fear.

Blessings
