Saturday – February 3rd – Revelation 19:13 ------
19:13) He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
IF YOU GO AGAINST THE GRAIN OF GOD’S LAW, YOU GET SPLINTERS!*
Welcome to Saturday and welcome to the first weekend in February. Yesterday the groundhog made its prediction on the length and terms of what is left of winter. From my past experiences Phil would not have made the final cut as one of God’s trusted prophets. But what I know for certain is that I am excited about our next installment of “When Your Way Isn’t Working” on Sunday. This week we explore the great story of Nehemiah who was able to hang on firmly to his connection with God through some very difficult and challenging times. Joins us in worship this weekend as we learn together how God used Nehemiah to overcome great odds to produce fruit for the Kingdom of Heaven. And how God can use us when we are connected to Jesus, the true vine.
In our pick verse today, John continues describing the indescribable sight of Jesus mounted on the great white horse of victory. The victorious conqueror comes to earth with a robe dipped in blood. Some suggest that it is His own blood from the crucifixion (the last time the devil thought he had a victory). Others think it is the blood of the martyrs that their King of Kings carries with Him as a taunting to the devil’s false perception of a victory over the followers of Jesus. In this verse a third title is given for this rider of the white horse – “The Word of God”. Reminiscent of John’s opening verse of his gospel, this title again provides clear proof of Jesus superiority over human powers and demonic forces. Whatever powers Caesar claimed, his words were only the “word of man”, and thus open to error and failure. Our faith is in Jesus who IS the Word of God in the flesh.
Blessings
