Saturday – February 24th – Revelation 20:4c -----
20:4) Then I saw thrones, and the people sitting on them had been given the authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony about Jesus and for proclaiming the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his statue, nor accepted his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They all came to life again, and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
SERVICE IS THE OVERFLOW OF SUPERABOUNDING DEVOTION.*
Welcome to Saturday. As has become a tradition on Saturdays, I take a moment to share about our worship service on Sunday. Tomorrow is the second Sunday in the season of Lent and the second week of our current series “A Jesus Shaped Life”. Our focus on our being shaped to be more like Jesus will take us to the Garden of Gethsemane and discover the depths of Jesus’ obedience to the will of His Father. Join us at SunRise for worship at 8am or 9:45am. Livestream worship is at 9:45am with on-demand options beginning at 10:45am.
In our pick verse today, we look at the second sentence in verse four. John’s vision takes in the presence of the souls who had suffered the ultimate fate for standing on their faith in Jesus. The only other previous time John had seen “souls” in his vision, they were in Heaven under the altar, waiting for divine vengeance to be carried out upon their oppressors. Having been told at that time (6:9-11) to wait until their numbers were complete, John had now witnessed the fulfillment of this vengeance (19:2) as they celebrate their victory in Heaven. In the premillennial interpretation, these souls described by John, will not be resurrected into their full glorious heavenly bodies until the completion of Jesus’ Second Coming.
Blessings
Pastor Jim
