Monday – February 26th – Revelation 20:4e ------
20:4) Then I saw thrones, and the people sitting on them had been given the authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony about Jesus and for proclaiming the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his statue, nor accepted his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They all came to life again, and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational though for today:
MANY ERRORS IN LIFE RESULT FROM AN INABILITY TO SIT STILL LONG ENOUGH TO READ WHAT GOD HAS WRITTEN.*
Happy Monday to you!! All I can say about today’s inspirational thought is “guilty as charged”. Yes, I could easily be categorized as impulsive and impatient, especially when it comes to reading any sort of directions. Of course, such actions usually lead me to less than desired results and always with a few parts left over. God’ s word for us as recorded in the Bible is His instructions for us to live a peaceful and productive life for the Kingdom of Heaven. Just like when I shortcut “some assembly required” instructions, when I fail to fully read and understand God’s word, the results are typically harmful and/or hurtful to my witness for Jesus. As we begin this week let’s all take a few extra minutes to fully embrace God’s instructions for today – then do your best to live into them.
In our pick verse today, we wrap up our extensive look at 20:4 of John’s vision as the world comes to its conclusion. The souls John has witnessed in the beginning of this verse, now achieve what is deemed by non-believers or doubters as impossible. The dead in Christ come to life. What this exactly means is still a subject for debate among the different millennial views. Considering what we will read in verse five, premillennialists suggest that this is a “bodily” resurrection of only those who have been martyred for their faith. John references that these resurrected souls will reign with Jesus for 1000 years. And once again, interpretation of how this occurs is open ended. It might be best to simply see this 1000-year reign as a symbol for an unimaginably great reward that the martyrs will experience in connection with the Second Coming. A reward for their self-sacrifice and their patience in waiting while evil runs its course on earth.
Blessings
