Monday – March 11th – Revelation 21:2    -----

21:2) And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
FORGIVENESS WARMS THE HEART AND COOLS THE STING.*

Welcome to Monday!  Even though we are still three weekends away from Easter Sunday, I want to give you plenty of runway to check out our six-week all-church study beginning the week of April 8th. Our sermon and study focus will address the age-old fear of inviting folks to church. Shane Bishop’s book “That’s Good News” is a great tool for small groups to learn how to reduce the fear of sharing your faith story with others. We currently have ten different options available for folks to join a group. Sign-ups can be found on the events page on either the website or the SunRise app.

In our pick verse today, John continues to describe this divine post-apocalyptic vision of a new Heaven and Earth. In today’s verse, John’s panoramic focus quickly narrows to the sight of the Holy City, the new Jerusalem coming down from Heaven. This sight is quite a contrast to John’s previous vision of the wicked city of Babylon which represented all the evils of the world. Far from our idyllic view of Heaven, John’s vision conveys the message that the final eternal home of God’s redeemed is this new earth. In the beginning, God created humanity to dwell on the earth, and this vision states that His plan is for a new earth to be our place forever. In fact, one striking note about John’s vision of a New Jerusalem is the reappearance of the Tree of Life – one of the main items found in the garden of Eden. An important thing to note is to not think of the new earth as Earth 2.0 – this is not a simple fixer-upper of what already existed.

Blessings
