Friday – March 22nd – Revelation 21:15-17    -----

21:15) The angel who talked to me held in his hand a gold measuring stick to measure the city, its gates, and its wall.
16) When he measured it, he found it was a square, as wide as it was long. In fact, its length and width and height were each 1,400 miles.
17) Then he measured the walls and found them to be 216 feet thick (according to the human standard used by the angel).

Hello Friday! Here is this week’s reminder about our upcoming all-church study beginning on Sunday April 7th. In conjunction with the sermon series starting that day we will be spending six-weeks digging into our role as sharers of our faith in Jesus. “That’s Good News” is the sermon series and the title of the book for our study. We are encouraging folks to join a group to study this book together. Listed on our sign-up sheets are nine different options for you to choose from, including both in-building and in-home options. For those who would prefer to do their own study that option is also available. Head over to the SunRise app or website and click on the “events” page sign-up today. Signing up early helps us ensure we will have enough books for every participant.

In our pick verse today, John is now accompanied by an angel who will measure the incredible size of New Jerusalem. The golden yardstick used by the angel seems perfectly fitted as match for the awesomeness and splendor of this great city of God. The base of the city was perfectly square, and it was as high as it is long. Each side and height of the city measured 1400 miles, the distance from SunRise Church to Phoenix, Arizona. Surely this perfectly shaped cube would be more than enough for all of God’s people. The cube shape of New Jerusalem is in direct proportion to the cube shape of the inner sanctuary, the Most Holy Place of the Holy Temple. In the earthly Jerusalem the glory of God was “limited” to a single, tiny, cube-shaped room, however in the New Jerusalem the glory of God fills a humongous, shaped cube.  Important for us to note is that in the old Temple, God was inaccessible, however in New Jerusalem God dwells with and among His people.

Blessings
