Wednesday – December 9th – Ephesians 2:15
2:15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace,
Hello Wednesday! I hope that the mid-point of this week finds you well and blessed. I also hope you have seized the opportunities placed before you to be a bright spot in someone’s life this week. I have been practicing smiling with my eyes, which is a trick in and of itself. The old saying is that the eyes are the window to our soul and now we have the opportunity to really focus on the eyes of others. Take some time today to try out your eye smiles in the mirror and then share that with someone else this week.
In our pick verse for today we are in the middle of a three-verse continuous sentence by Paul reflecting on the nature of the sacrifice of Jesus. By His death Jesus fulfilled the sacrificial requirements of the Old Testament ceremonial law and took our punishment for breaking the moral laws of God. Through the sacrificial death of Jesus, we are now all the same before God. When anyone – Jew or Gentile – receives salvation by faith in Christ, they become part of the new and all-inclusive family of God. As we read this verse, we are reminded that every one of us is either Jew or Gentile, so none of us are excluded from this generous act of Jesus’ sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins. And that is a great reason to smile with our eyes today!
Blessings
