Tuesday – January 12th – Ephesians 5:1-2

5:1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

Here is Tuesday - arrived and ready for us to live our out faith in action. I am remined that no matter the day of the week, the month of the year, or the decade in which we live – each day is tailor made for us to be a representative of the Kingdom of Heaven. As Tuesday unfolds before you how might you speak words of God’s love so that others desire to become followers of Jesus?

As Paul begins a new focus in the opening verse of chapter five, he ties together his thoughts of our living in Christ’s love, alongside the new person we become as a follower of Jesus. We are challenged to be constant imitators of God. When in a positive way we are imitating the actions of someone else, we are witnessing to the impact that person has had in our lives. Paul also encourages his readers to “walk in love”. This is the kind of love Jesus had for sinners, a love that caused Him to make Himself an offering on our behalf for the forgiveness of our sins. This my friends are the greatest examples of pure and true love. When we, through the power of the Holy Spirit, seek to forgive those who have wronged us, then we are imitators of our savior.
