Thursday – January 14th – Ephesians 5:6-7

6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them.

Another Thursday has arrived for us to enjoy as a gift from God. How has your week been so far? What great blessings have you received from God? What differences, of any size, have you made in someone’s life this week. What opportunities might present themselves in the next couple of days that the Kingdom of Heaven will be blessed by your words and witness?

Paul’s discussion on how we are to live in the love Jesus, concludes with our two pick verses for today. Paul warns believers of his day to not get caught up in a war of words – especially empty words designed to lead a person away from a close walk with Jesus. Paul’s initial reference are to the sins listed in verses 3-5, but also include any attempts to distort or disrupt the love God has for each individual. We are not to be tempted or be influenced by people who are far from God and try to alter God’s will for our lives. The more time we spend reading scripture that is interpreted for us by the power of the Holy Spirit the less the chance we will fall to the deception of those who speak without the authority of God. When living in the love of God is our litmus test of words, actions, and interactions we will be a blessing to the others and to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Blessings
