Friday – January 15th – Ephesians 5:8-10

5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.
Welcome to Friday and, if you can believe it the mid-mark of January. I not sure yet if I have had to actually write 2021 on anything (other than typing it), and yet here we are two weeks into the year. Has the first half of January measured up to your expectations? Have you been able to live into your goals for intentional faith development? What new and exciting things have you learned to strengthen your faith walk?

In our pick verses from Ephesians chapter five, Paul begins a new section on “walking in the light”. Building on his just completed teaching on living a life worthy of a disciple, Paul now focuses on our growing relationship with God.  When we were sinners, we lived our lives stumbling in the dark to the things that are of God. Now as believers, we are living in the light, filled with God’s truth and righteousness. Thus, we must walk as children of the light, showing the fruit of the spirit, and able to understand what is acceptable to the Lord. As we shared on Christmas Eve, Jesus was the light that came into a dark world and the light became victorious.
