Sunday – January 17th – Ephesians 5: 13-14

5:13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.    14 Therefore He says: "Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light."

Happy Sunday to you! I pray you weekend has been a blessing so far and that you will make the most of the time left before we head into another beginning of the week. One of the opportunities highlighted this week for discipleship growth and personal generosity of time and talents is the upcoming Serve Saturday on February 6th. You can check-out the options, as well as sign up, through the new SunRise Church O’Fallon app available in your phone’s app store. Over three hundred folks have downloaded the SunRise app in just its first month of availability. Grab it now so you are always up to date on SunRise stuff.

Since this current section in chapter five is entitled “walk in the light”, Paul, in today’s verses enlightens his readers on how the light is important to our daily faith walk. The light is to be considered the absolute truth of God presented to us so that we may clearly discern the nature of evil deeds. The invitation of the Gospel message includes our becoming aware of our absence from the source of good. When we accept and obey the truth of God’s light, we will be transformed from the grip of sin to then be free in Jesus. While God does all the heavy lifting in this transformation process, we still must acknowledge and accept what God offers for the deal to be complete. My prayer is that each of us has experienced the power of God’s transformation as we move from separated to saved.

Blessings
