Tuesday – January 5th – Ephesians 4:22

22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,
Happy Tuesday you all!!  With this being the 5th of January, I would image many of us have either put away our Christmas decorations are in serious consideration to do so this week. The first full week of January often feels like the pulling apart of Velcro. All the focus, energy, and attention around the holiday seasons seems to still have a magical pull while at the same time we are now setting sights on new opportunities in January. School is back in session, work is back in full swing, and each day is marked off as one day closer to spring.  The best advice I have ever received is to give thanks for yesterday, enjoy today, and wait patiently for tomorrow. So, at the end of this day what will be your highlight moment?

In our pick verse for today, Paul continues to shake out the challenges of the transition into becoming a believer in Jesus. His terminology often compares the way we were as being the “old self” or living out our inward evil nature. When we become a follower of Jesus we have, through the power of the Holy Spirit, the encouragement to put our former way of living completely in the past. We should put our old habits behind us like old worn out clothes to be thrown away. When we decide to accept Jesus’ gift of salvation it is a onetime decision, as well as a daily conscious commitment. With God on our side, we are not to give into the temptation to be driven by desire and impulse. How has being a new creation in Christ changed you from the old to the new?

Blessings
