Thursday – January 7th – Ephesians 4:25

25 Therefore, putting away lying, "Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor," for we are members of one another.

Happy Thursday! For me, this week is going by fast both at home and at church. SunRise Pre-school is back in session for the first time since last March. What a joy to hear the sounds of kids once again in the hallways and see the excitement on their faces – albeit from the eyes up! With all the Pre-school activity this week I am witnessing in live action our current teaching series “Childlike Faith”. What new excitement have you experienced this week? Where have you seen the presence of God? How has God been at work in the people and places around you?

Our pick verse for today serves as a transitional statement by Paul that introduces some practical actions that come from a changed life in Christ. Paul uses the word “therefore” to begin this verse as a reminder to the Ephesian believers that God has created each of us for a life of holiness. As a result of this holiness, we are therefore connected to each other through the bond of Jesus Christ. How than can we deceive our fellow member of the body of Christ or our neighbor outside the church when hurting them hurts us both?  To be a follower of Jesus sets us apart through our words and actions. Being set-apart is not being set-above, but instead a call to a holy lifestyle exemplified through word, action, and thought.
