Friday – January 29th – Ephesians 6:10

6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Good Friday morning to you!  We are on the verge of another weekend.  Today we still must navigate through the last day of the work week. I bet your thoughts are drifting to what you have planned for a couple of days away from work – time with the family, time on home projects, time waiting for next week’s super bowl. Don’t forget to include some time to invest in your discipleship plan for 2021. Deeper, stronger, and more committed are my goals for 2021. What are your goals to be more of who God wants you to be this year?

In all honesty I have been waiting for us to arrive at this point in Paul’s letter to the Ephesians since we started the daily scripture blog in January of 2018. Over the next several days we will immerse ourselves in what is my absolute go-to favorite passage of Scripture – Ephesians 6:10-20. In our pick verses for today Paul sets the stage for the Christian’s awakening to the reality of spiritual warfare being real and ever present for believers to deal with on a moment-by-moment basis. Paul’s instructions for us to be strong in the Lord centers on our focus to know and follow that which is right in God’s eyes and reject that which is evil. When we can accomplish this, we will always win against Satan and evil inclinations. However, this is much easier stated than accomplished. The evil one is a master in camouflaging evil so that is looks good and appealing. Satan is such a master at this trickery we can even passionately defend all kinds of sin when we are fooled to see evil for good and good for evil.  Because of the challenge spiritual warfare presents to each of us, Paul will spend the next ten verses describing the weapons we have at our disposal to be victorious.

Blessings
