Saturday – January 30th – Ephesians 6:11
6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Yes, today is Saturday and the weekend has arrived. As a reminder the seat reservation system for Sunday morning and Thursday evening worship has been retired so all you need to do is show-up and worship. For the next three weekends the in-building worship will be at 8:30am and 10:30am with the same format we have utilized since September. We will experience music and sermon on video followed by the celebration of communion. Beginning on Sunday February 21st the service times will change to 9am and 11am with music and sermon live, along with the celebration of communion. Discipleship discussion rooms will be available after the service concludes for those who would like to hang around and talk through the discipleship questions presented at the end of the service. At this time, we will be able to seat approximately fifty people in each service. Your safety and our safety is our greatest concern and the most important act of “loving our neighbor” that we can offer as Christians.
Today in our pick verse we are introduced to Paul’s tactic of successfully engaging the devil in spiritual warfare. For each believer God provides complete armor to protect us from all kinds of evil and temptation. The wiles of the devil are the result of the evil one’s craftiness, capable of drawing careless Christians into sin. When this armor is fully set-in place, we are able to stand firm in our faith with eyes able to see behind the veil of illusion the evil one uses with such easy in our world. If we remember back to the very first sin recorded in the Bible, it was a simple matter of placing doubt into our minds and drawing us into questioning God’s love for us. Thinks have not changed in the generations since. As we begin to put on God’s armor the next few days remember that sin is best defined as not trusting God in the situation we are currently experiencing.
Blessings
