Friday – February 5th – Ephesians 6:17
6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
Our Daily Walk Bible thought for this Friday:
THE WONDER OF THE CROSS IS NOT THE BLOOD BUT WHOSE BLOOD.*
Friday has arrived – but technically I don’t think we can say it is the weekend until 5:01pm. So, as we tetter on the edge of the end of the work week I am certain most of us are thinking what options a cold and snowy super bowl weekend will bring. As a reminder this weekend at SunRise we will celebrate worship both online and inbuilding. Join other SunRise family and friends on Saturday 5pm, Sunday 8am, 9:30am, or 11am via Facebook or the SunRise website. On-demand options for worship circles, family gatherings, or for individual worship begin on Saturday morning through the SunRise app, SunRise streaming TV channel, or SunRise YouTube. In-building worship will be at 8:30am and 10:30am – remember no seat reservations required and for the next two weekends the music and message will be the online worship service. Beginning on Sunday February 21st, the in-building times will change to 9am and 11am and will include live music and message. Please share this next step information with your family and friends.
In our pick verse for today Paul adds two additional pieces to our spiritual warfare armor. The salvation provided by God, through Jesus’ death and resurrection, provides our complete victory over sin and death. Paul’s association with a protective helmet reminds us that the acceptance of salvation includes the involvement of our mind to process this awesome gift of God’s grace and love. The sword of the spirit is the only offensive weapon God provides for us in our daily battle against the temptation the evil one throws at us. The Holy Spirit enables us to us the sword of the spirit, which is the Bible, to become spirituality strong and to lead others to Jesus. As we prepare for this day may we suit up for the battle before us.
Blessings
