Friday – February 19th – Philippians 1:24-26

1:24 Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you.
25 And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith,
26 that your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again.

TELEVISION HAS TURNED THE FAMILY CIRCLE INTO A SEMICIRCLE.*

Welcome to Friday and the end of our week of winter in O’Fallon. This weekend marks a new chapter in the life of SunRise church with the re-introduction of live worship on Sunday morning. While we will be practicing social distancing and mask wearing while in the building, and even somewhat limited in the number of available seats in the worship space, it will be great to “see” folks again – at least from the eyes up. My one piece of advice is to arrive early to check in your kids and to insure a seat in the big room. We will also have some additional seating available in the overflow areas as needed.

In our pick verses today, Paul concludes this sub-section on “joy in life or death” by sharing with the Philippians their need for him to remain alive, at least for the time being. Paul is confident that his death will not occur now because the Philippians still need him for spiritual direction. His hope for a return to Philippi will bring these believers an opportunity for more rejoicing in Jesus. Their progress and joy of their faith was Paul’s goal for theses believers and for all believers throughout the empire. We should make this our same goal as we witness to and with others.

Blessings
