Tuesday – March 2nd – Philippians 2:17-18
2:17 Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.
18 For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me.
Tuesday Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought:
THERE IS NO BIBLICAL BASIS FOR BELIEVING THERE IS ANY SUCH THING AS A LITTLE SIN.*
We have successfully arrived at the very first Tuesday in the merry -merry month of March. I heard a handful of people yesterday who were very excited about the calendar turning to this third month of the year. Their excitement was centered around the emerging glimpses of spring complete with sunshine and warming temperatures. I must agree that “new life” is just around the corner, both in nature and in our journey to the risen tomb on Easter.
In our pick verses today, Paul shares how he is personally shinning as a light into the world. Paul’s first-order focus is to let the light of Jesus shine through him and subsequently all glory and honor then goes to God. Paul’s reference to being a “drink offering” centers on a ceremonial cup of wine poured out to accompany many of the Old Testament animal sacrifices. Paul likens the faith of the Philippians to such a sacrifice, and his own life and labors to the drink offering poured out to complete it. Paul states he is willing to give of himself on behalf of the Gospel, so that their faith might be strong. Both their faith and his self-giving were causes for joined gladness of heart. May all who preach or share the gospel and all who believe in Jesus respond with the same willingness to self-sacrifice for the sake of another person’s eternal salvation. While we are not in the saving business, we are in the representing the Kingdom of Heaven business to point people to the truth about God.
Blessings
