Thursday – March 4th – Philippians 2:21 ----
2:21 For all seek their own, not the things which are of Christ Jesus.
Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for Thursday:
WHEN WE ARE TRULY WITNESSING, WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT OURSELVES BUT ABOUT CHRIST.*
Today we welcome Thursday to our weekly check-in. As this first week of March is coming to a conclusion, I was reminded of the old saying that if March comes in like a lamb it will go out like a lion, with the parameters flipped depending on the beginning of the month. Well, I hope this year that old saying is wrong as we have enjoyed a great first week and at the same time, I would like to avoid a bad month end, since that includes the pre-days before Easter. I will be the first to admit I am not a fan of snow on Easter Sunday. I would rather bask in the warm feelings of spring and new life all around us.
In our pick verse today, Paul seems to drop in a statement that is disconnected from laying out his plans for Timothy to come visit the Philippian believers. But what Paul is working to accomplish is to highlight the many positive traits of his young protégé. When Paul uses the word “all”, this is an intentional overstatement used for dramatic emphasis. Most people tend to be selfish by nature, but Paul knows Timothy is different. He urges the Philippians that they too can break free from this self-centered way of life if they have the mind of Christ in them. This same encouragement is still Jesus’ plans for us today. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can be more than the world, culture, or society all around us. We should embrace a Kingdom agenda and not a human agenda in order to shape our lives.
Blessings
