Sunday – March 7th – Philippians 2:29-30    ----

2:29 Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness, and hold such men in esteem;
30 because for the work of Christ he came close to death, not regarding his life, to supply what was lacking in your service toward me.

Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for Sunday

How wonderful it is to arrive at Sunday! Another week has concluded, and we are now preparing for tomorrow’s start of another week to serve the Lord. I cannot help but chuckle at our inspirational thought today. As a spiritual leader these words caused me to stop and ponder what I am doing to help people grow in their faith. And the more I think about it, there might be some underlying truth in this statement that a true leader is more often being aggressively chased than willingly followed. A true leader is called to take people to where the need to go, and at times not always where they want to go.

In our pick verses today, Paul concludes chapter two and this focus on being faithful fellow workers of the Gospel. Believers who undertake the risk to serve the Lord should always be received with high esteem and gladness of heart. We do not know the extent Epaphroditus had risked his life to bring gifts from the Philippians to Paul, but it was significant enough for Paul to reference in this letter. All Christians have a duty to help supply the needs of those who work full-time for the advancement of the Gospel. The Philippians had regularly and joyously contributed to Paul’s ministry in the past. However, extenuating circumstances had prevented them from fully helping Paul for some time. Epaphroditus’s mission to Paul filled the gap that had been lacking, and for that Paul was truly blessed.  When we express our generosity in support of Gospel ministry and missions, we are a blessing to those who receive.  Who might you bless this week?
