Monday – March 8th – Philippians 3:1 ---
3:1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. For me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe.
Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for Monday:
WHEN SIN IS FASHIONABLE, CHRISTIANS SHOULD BE OUT OF FASHION.*
Welcome to Monday! This is the “go” day of the week. Go into the world (at least your part of the world) and do your best to make disciples of all people. Our inspirational thought for today reminds us that we do our best disciple-making through our actions. How might our lives be an example of our connection to Jesus. Do we exhibit God’s grace and love to others while following the commandments of Jesus to avoid the temptations of the evil one? In other words, how “unfashionable” are you?
Our pick verses today transition into a new, but connected, teaching for Paul. In our previous chapter Paul had outlined how Timothy and Epaphroditus had demonstrated conduct worthy of the Gospel, Paul now tells of his own joy-filled commitment to God. Paul introduces this section by summing up all that he had said about living a life worthy of being a follower of Jesus. Paul reminds the believers that true joy is in the Lord and not determined by own personal life circumstances. God is always in charge, so even in prison Paul can found the attitude to rejoice. Consequently, it is not tedious or troublesome for Paul to encourage the Philippians to rejoice regardless of their circumstances. Heartfelt and humbled rejoicing, according to Paul, will be a safeguard for their conduct because they will have the right attitude. How might we adjust our attitude when it comes to our circumstances? How easily do we find words of rejoicing even when life plays out differently than we had planned?
Blessings
