Friday – March 12th – Philippians 3:8-9 ----
3:8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ
9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;
Friday’s Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought to ponder:
THOSE WHO BELIEVE THAT PEOPLE AREN’T SO BAD MUST NEVER HAVE BEEN PARENTS.*
Welcome to Friday! I can not let the inspirational thought for today go without a short commentary on the statement. These are drawn from the daily reading in the Daily Walk Bible which is a year-long journey through scripture. Right now, we are in the book of Judges and the story currently is on the life of Samson. If you are not familiar with this story, without giving to much away before you go and read it today, in a nutshell Samson was somewhat of a spoiled brat. I am sure that is how the inspirational thought relates both to this scripture story and to real life. Have a great Friday!
Our pick verses for today continue Paul’s personal story of transformation
of becoming a highly committed follower of Jesus Christ. Paul continued, on a daily basis, to count not only his privileges and achievements mentioned in verse five and six, but everything else, as loss through the lens of a believer. To Paul, these things are to be considered worthless and repulsive rubbish in comparison with the excellence of knowing and experiencing the saving graces of Jesus. At this point in his life, Paul already has a relationship with Jesus, but he still grows each day as a Christian, entirely committed to the lordship of Christ, as he looks forward to his final crown of salvation – entry into the Kingdom of Heaven. Yes, Paul was a highly effective witness for Jesus, but the promise of salvation was the same for him as it was for any other believer – even you and me. Rejoice on this Friday that God’s love and grace have been extended to you and continue to grow full force in your faith journey!!!
Blessings
