Monday – March 15th – Philippians 3:13-14 ----
3:13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,
14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for Monday:
KEEP YOUR HEART RIGHT, EVEN WHEN IT IS SORELY WOUNDED.*
Monday is here and another great week ahead of us! Yesterday I mentioned the upcoming options for Easter weekend worship. Today I want to share an exciting and powerful gathering on Thursday March 25th at 7pm. We will gather for an old-fashioned gospel music hymn sign as a way to prepare ourselves for the final days of the journey to the empty tomb. In keeping with our “Week That Changed The World” focus this would be a glimpse at what it might have been like to be a disciple of Jesus in the mid-part of the Holy Week. Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jesus was fresh on their minds while the reality of a condemning crowd was the furthest thing from their thoughts.
In our pick verses for today Paul describes the Christian life as a flat-out race. The goal of every believer is to pursue a complete knowledge of Christ and eternal salvation. The runners’ task is to concentrate one thing – winning the prize. No victorious runner ever looks behind for fear of losing precious steps going forward. So, the Christian must not be discouraged by previous defeats, nor proud of earlier achievements. Rather every runner must press urgently toward the finish line so that he will receive the eternal prize which God will give the runner as they cross the finish line. As a follower of Jesus, we must keep our eyes focused on the grand prize and not allow ourselves to be distracted by the tempting of the evil one and thus unsuspectingly veer off course.
Blessings
