Friday – March 19th – Philippians 3:18-19
3:18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame--who set their mind on earthly things.
Friday’s Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought:
MOST OF US DON’T PUT OUR BEST FOOT FORWARD UNTIL WE GET THE OTHER ONE IN HOT WATER.*
Friday has arrived! The end of the work week for many people. Hopefully there are lots of activities and opportunities for you to be places this weekend that can open the door to sharing your faith. Most of the time the best and most effective way is for our actions to make a positive impact on those who observe us. Would our actions lead people to believe we are followers of Jesus, or put our faith statements in serious doubt? After watching our reactions would we have to then convince folks with our words that we are a believer? It is always a full-time job being a fully committed follower of Jesus.
In our pick verses for today Paul is teaching on the advantages of being citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven. Paul speaks of weeping, perhaps for the tragic consequences for people who have rejected the God’s invitation of eternal life through Jesus. Equally sad are for those who in their unbelief inflict damage on God’s work and God’s followers. They are enemies of the cross because they think they can earn their own salvation and because they reject the hardships that will come for those who follow a crucified Jesus. The end result of such thinking is utter destruction – eternal damnation and permanent separation from God. These enemies of Christ are so mixed up that they glory in the things for which they should avoid. Such is the timeless tragedies of setting our minds only on earthly things.
Blessings
