Saturday – March 20th – Philippians 3:20-21
3:20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for Saturday:
THE MORE HOT ARGUMENTS YOU WIN, THE FEWER WARM FRIENDS YOU’LL HAVE.*
Happy Saturday to you! What a great start to a beautiful weekend. Enjoy the outdoors as the temps warm and the rain is at bay. Today is the official first day of spring. I have already seen flowers stems breaking through the dirt and reaching toward the sun. By this time next week, I fully anticipate having made a first pass over my grass with the lawnmower. What a great time of the year as new life begins to show itself to the world.
I
n our pick verse today, Paul closes out chapter three of his letter to the believers in Philippi. In these powerful two verses Paul reminds the Philippian believers why they are to be different from the people described in verses 18 and 19. Christians live under the promises of having a heavenly citizenship, a returning savior, and the assurance of a glorified resurrected body. Paul seems to be comparing the earthly Roman citizenship, enjoyed by so many of the Philippians, with the heavenly citizenship they have received through Jesus. Paul adds to the importance of this teaching by reminding the believers that we are also eagerly waiting for the promised return of Jesus. When Jesus returns, He will transform our limited physically bodies into a spiritual body free from pain, sorrow, or decay. This change will be accomplished through Jesus’ divine power over all things. These verses are a powerful reminder that because of our heavenly citizenship our allegiance and loyalty is always to the Kingdom of Heaven, regardless of our zip code, our community, our state, or our nation in which we reside.
Blessings
