Sunday – March 21st – Philippians 4:1
4:1 Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved.
The Daily Walk Bible Inspirational thought for Sunday:
GOOD CHARACTER IS LIKE GOOD SOUP— IT IS USUALLY HOMEMADE.*
Happy Sunday my friends and fellow blog readers. This is the fifth Sunday in the season of Lent which means there only two more weekends until Easter and the celebration of the empty tomb. What a great and blessed time of the year this is in the life of the Christian church. Truly it is the reason we have hope in our lives now and the promise of eternal life in the presence of God in the future. This blessed hope is what tempers the struggles we face in our lives and helps us live through the challenges, temptations, and trials we face as believers in Jesus.
Today we move into the last chapter of the Paul’s letter to the church in Philippi. This chapter has numerous verses that are the “quotable” type for encouragement and survival in our faith journey. Paul begins this new chapter with the word “therefore” as a way for the Philippian Christians to know that they should obey the commands Paul outlines in this chapter. Their obedience is based on the gospel message Paul has preached, as well as his discipleship example for them to follow. Every believer has this assurance of their citizenship in Heaven, even while they wait patiently for Jesus’ promised return. Paul always felt a special connection to those who came to a relationship with Jesus through his teachings and reminded them that he considered them “beloved” because they all are made one in spirit with Jesus. No matter the span of time or geography all believers are connected through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. We should treat all believers as if they are our own beloved in fellowship.
Blessings
