Monday – March 29th – Philippians 4:10     -----

4:10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity.

The Daily Walk Bible Inspirational thought for Monday:
THE ALTERNATIVE TO DISCIPLINE IS DISASTER.*

Monday is here and the beginning of not just any week, but the beginning of Holy Week. The last days of Jesus’ earthly life which we have covered in part during the last six weeks. Yet, the events of that last week are too numerous to cover in such a short time, so I encourage you to pick one of the gospel accounts beginning with Jesus’ Palm Sunday entrance into Jerusalem and concluding with the resurrection story on Easter morning. In many traditions, Holy Week is also known as the week of Jesus’ passion. God’s unconditional love and amazing grace can only come through a life lived with passion.

Our pick verse for today begins a new section on our “commitment to Jesus”. Paul is expressing his personal thankfulness to the believers in Philippi for their generosity of care sent to him while in prison in Rome. He remembers the welcome, care, and love he received while in Philippi. He is also thankful for their ongoing prayers and financial support during his years of church planting across the Roman Empire. Their pervious lack of opportunity may have included the two-plus years from Paul’s arrest in Jerusalem until his arrival in Rome. Financial support for mission and ministry is an ongoing opportunity that every believer should embrace with the constant thought that someone may come to know Jesus because of your generosity. We give because God first blessed us so that we might be a blessing to others.

Blessings
