Thursday – April 1st – Philippians 4:14-16
4:14 Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress.
15 Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only.
16 For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities.
Thursday inspirational thought from the Daily Walk Bible:
WISE MEN TALK BECAUSE THEY HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY; FOOLS, BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING.*
Welcome to Thursday of Holy Week. Quick reminder of the Gospel music sing, tonight at 7pm. I thought today’s inspirational words to be very appropriate and timely for April 1st. I am inspired today to talk less and really think about what I am going to say before I let any words come from my mouth (or through my fingertips). Today I will strive to be considered wise and not a fool on this day of fooling people.
In our pick verses Paul begins a new section in this last chapter of his letter to the Philippians. My Wesley Study Bible entitles the next seven verses as “sharing brings God’s blessings”. Paul wanted to make sure the Philippian believers realized that their gift to him was both appreciated and extremely helpful. Paul also wants them to know and experience that in both giving and receiving there is joy not only for the one being helped, but also for the one who is helping. Paul’s honesty in these verses reminds us that God has a perfect plan that connects those with needs to those who have surplus. God could easily take care of the needs of every person without involving others, but God instead choses to let us who have been blessed be a blessing to others. During this week of reflecting on Jesus’ sacrifice on our behalf, who might you bless from the abundance God has blessed you with? Extravagant generosity begins with God and flows through those who follow Jesus.
Blessings
