Friday – April 2nd – Philippians 4:17-19 ----
4:17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.
18 Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.
19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Today’s Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought:
PRAYER AT ITS BEST EMPLOYS FOUR STATEMENTS: THANK YOU; I’M SORRY; TEACH ME; GO WITH ME.*
Yes, today is Good Friday. This is the day that we remember and reflect upon the last day of Jesus’ life in human form. This is the day that Jesus went to the cross and died to pardon our sins. This is the day that God reached out to rebellious humanity and took the first giant step back to reconnect with His creation. While the first Good Friday was anything but good for the disciples, for us, post-resurrection believers, today we can look past the pain and see the glory of God shining upon us.
In today’s pick verses Paul concludes his short teaching on sharing God’s blessings by talking more about the results of giving than the actual gift. Paul knows that those who give to support God’s work receive fruit (credit) into their eternal account before God. A gift given and accepted in love is a sacrifice that is pleasing to God. Considering today being Good Friday, we should not miss the importance of our accepting the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross to complete God’s invitation to forgiveness of sin and entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven. A gift has great potential but can not be useful until the package is opened and the gift is accepted. Please pray today for those who have not yet opened God’s gift of amazing grace and unconditional love.
Blessings
