Wednesday – April 14th – Colossians 1:16-17 -----
1:16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.
17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for Wednesday:
TRUE PRAYER IS A WAY OF LIFE, NOT JUST AN EMERGENCY DETOUR.*
Mid-week Wednesday has arrived for us to enjoy today. The inspirational thought for today is comforting, challenging, and interestingly placed in our reading through the Bible in a year program. This perfect thought is positioned between the books of 2 Kings and 1 Chronicles in the Old Testament. If ever there was a need for people to be in prayer it was during that specific period in Jewish history. The rapid erosion in both a personal relationship with God and a national connection to God placed both the northern and southern kingdoms on unavoidable paths to destruction. When we wait to begin our prayer efforts in times of emergency, we have failed to understand the presence and power of God in our lives during non-emergency times. Friends, do not wait until it is to late to talk to God, start now while life still looks pretty good.
In our pick verses for today, Paul hits mid-stride on his teaching about the supremacy of Christ. Today we focus on some of the earliest developmental thoughts surrounding the divine inter-connection within the Trinity. Jesus has complete authority on earth and in Heaven because all things – both physical and spiritual – were created by Him as part of the Trinity. Jesus is not inferior or subordinate to the Father. The Bible describes the creation in Genesis 1 as being under the direction of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Through our limited human understanding the concept of the Trinity becomes a real head-scratcher when we try to equate this divine relationship through the lens of human family relationships. Once again, we are reminded that Jesus – Emmanuel (God in the flesh) – was not a reaction to the conditions of first century Palestine, but a perfect plan from before the beginning of human history. We are saved by God through the action of God, and now have the opportunity to be led daily by God. Friends, it does not get any better than that!
Blessings
