Friday – April 16th – Colossians 1:19-20
1:19 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell,
20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
Friday’s inspirational thought from the Daily Walk Bible:
MOTIVATION IS WHAT GETS YOU STARTED; HABIT IS WHAT KEEPS YOU GOING.*
Happy Friday to you! May your last day of this week be filled with rich blessings and unlimited opportunities to be positive representative for the Kingdom of Heaven. As our inspiration thought states when this becomes a daily habit then we find it to be a natural part of our presence in this world.
In our pick verses for today we are introduced to a new sub-section in chapter one. Paul will focus, for a handful of verses, on our reconciliation through Jesus. Paul’s checkered past is a living example of how Jesus’ death and resurrection is able to completely save us from sin. We do not need any other mediator but Christ alone. Paul’s understanding of this grace filled action by God is summed in the word “reconcile”. Sin not only separated us from God, but it has also brought about disorder in the created world. Christ’s death lays the groundwork for this disorder to be removed when He returns at the end of time. It is hard to imagine or accept that our “small” sinful actions can wreck such large havoc on both humanity and the balance of the created world. Reconcile by definition is to restore to friendship or harmony that which is unsettled. Reconciliation can happen when we are willing to forgive others for their transgressions. We have been reconciled to God because Jesus was willing to stand in our place and receive the penalty for our sins. This is the reason we, as followers of Jesus, look for opportunities to represent God’s love and grace to others.
Blessings
