Saturday – April 24th – Colossians 2:6-7
2:6 As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,
7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
IN A HEART IN WHICH GOD IS ENTHRONED AS KING, THERE LIES A GLIMPSE OF HEAVEN.*
Happy Saturday to you today. Yes, it is the weekend and for that matter the last weekend in April. Among all the events and activities on your Saturday/Sunday calendar I do hope they include a time for gathered worship. You have choices of either in-building on Sunday or online options at 5pm Saturday or 8am and 9:30am Sunday. On demand choices are available beginning on Saturday morning. No matter where or when you worship this weekend remember we are collecting a cup of dirt each week as we fill our “common ground” pot. Bring your dirt to worship or at any time throughout the week. If you are worshiping at a distance gather your dirt in your location as a reminder the common ground of SunRise is everywhere.
In our pick verses for today Paul continues to expand on his teachings about Jesus being the only way to receive the glory of eternal life in Heaven. In chapter one, Paul identified Jesus as Lord. It is not enough to just receive Jesus as savior, we must continue to “walk in Him”, obeying and trusting in Him as Lord of our life. When we continue to walk with Christ, we are by God’s power “rooted” in Him like a strong tree and “built” up in Him like a beautiful building. As our faith is established, our lives are filled with thanksgiving. During this season of planting, we are reminded that a solid root system is necessary for the growth of a health plant. As followers of Jesus we need to strengthen our root system in faith so we can endure the potential struggles of life.
Blessings
