Sunday – April 25th – Colossians 2:8

2:8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
PESSIMISM IS PULLING TOMORROW’S CLOUD OVER TODAY’S SUNSHINE.*

Good Sunday to you! May this day of the Lord be one where you are both blessed and busy blessing others. Such an approach to each day of our life fits well with our inspirational thought for today. It is all about attitude. The one thing that we do have control over in our life is our attitude. Granted the things of this world and the forces of the devil will relentlessly try to make constant adjustments to our attitude. Yet when we lean into God as the source of our strength, peace, and balance we can leave pessimism in our rearview mirror,

In our pick verse today, Paul continues to outline the significant difference between human philosophy and God inspired theology. Paul repeats his previous warning (v4) that he is not opposed to the careful reasoning of philosophy, but his opposition is to false reasoning used with the purpose to deceive. This false reasoning comes from proud human centered tradition and is inspired by hostile spiritual forces. These human philosophies do not follow the teachings, principles, or values of the gospel of Jesus. For Paul, the basic principles of the world referred to in this passage are a warning about evil spirits at work in the world. Every challenge to the truth of the Gospel that we read in the New Testament always points to the importance of our focus on intentionally growing in our faith journey.

Blessings
