2:9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;
10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

Welcome to Monday! A new day and a new week are before for us today. Fresh off our “Common Ground” teaching from the weekend’s worship, we all can approach this week with less worry about our circumstances and with more trust in God. And when times of worry flare up, we know that time spent in prayer can effectively douse the flames of our anxiety.
In our pick verses today Paul draws us to the importance of our connection with God so we may better resist the false teachings and human philosophies offered by the world. Paul’s teaching is very simple and straightforward – Jesus, being part of the Trinity, is all we need for our life and for our eternal salvation. Our part of this gracious and grace-filled offer is to allow God to have full and free reign in our hearts. When we enter into this relationship with God, we become complete in our existence and our purpose. Jesus is the “head” over all physical and spiritual authorities throughout all of creation. With Jesus in this position, we have nothing to fear, be worried about, nor need to live in a state of ongoing anxiety. When God has our heart, we are under His perfect plan and protection.
