Wednesday – May 5th – Colossians 3:1-4 ----
3:1) If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.
2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
PRAYER CAN DO ANYTHING GOD CAN DO.*
Good Wednesday to you – the first Wednesday in May. This merry merry month of May is always filled with lots of activities and events. From Mother’s Day to graduations (of all ages), to Memorial Day celebrations, to the beginning flood of vacations, to full scale outside sports the demand on our time increases almost daily. In the midst of all the options for a fuller and busier life, especially after last May, we cannot forget to also focus on making ample time to stay solid in our relationship with God. When we go and do, it does not mean we need to leave God at home. More activities mean being more intentional to include God in our daily lives.
In our pick verses for today Paul comes full circle in our transformation from being at odds with Christ to becoming one with Him. According to Paul in 2:20-23 if having “died with Christ” frees us from the false “regulations” of the world, then today’s verses where we are “raised with Christ” directs our attention to heavenly and eternal things. Sharing in Jesus’ resurrection is the basis of our new life that Paul describes throughout the remainder of this letter to the Colossians. As a fully committed follower of Jesus we are drawn to Him and not to the earthly ideas and limited values of human construction. Paul also reminds us that our present life with Christ is but a foretaste of the blessings of eternity. When Jesus returns in His full glory we will then enter into the fullness of the Kingdom of Heaven. My first question is if I will be ready for His return, and if I have done all I can do as a representative for the Kingdom of Heaven.
Blessings
