Saturday – May15th – Colossians 3:20 (18-21)   ----

3:18 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.
20 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.
21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.

The Daily Walk Bible inspiration thought for today:
TO KNOW GOD’S WILL IS LIFE’S GREATEST TREASURE; TO DO GOD’S WILL IS LIFE’S GREATEST PLEASURE.*

Hello Saturday and hello weekend! And yet another wet weekend at that. Hope you can find things to do this weekend that help you rejuvenate your body, mind, and soul. At SunRise we begin an exciting new series focusing on the challenge to BE BOLD for Jesus. The story of Jonah from the Old Testament will be our source of finding ways we can bold in our witness and in our service to the Lord. In addition to worship opportunities, we have put together a nifty BE BOLD invite kit for you to use as a way to invite others to worship and to SunRise. The invite kit can be picked up at SunRise or, if requested, we will mail you the kit complete with instructions. There are enough different items in each kit to invite five or more people to worship either in the building or on-line.

Today in our pick verse we look at the third segment of Paul’s instruction on how to be blessed with Christlikeness in our homes. As mentioned earlier, the lens through which these four verses should be viewed is that Paul is talking first and foremost about mutual spirituality and not an everyday life void of a deep and growing relationship with God. If we first seek God’s holiness in our lives, then the decisions and interactions of everyday life will be blessed by God. Today Paul instructs children to obey the spiritual teachings of the parents because that is their role in Christian home. This obedience does not extend to commands or requirements by non-Christian parents to do things outside of God’s will or God’s word. That kind of request or corresponding action would not be pleasing to the Lord and must be resisted.

Blessings
