3:18 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.
20 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.
21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.

Good Sunday to you! My prayer is that you will find time today to invest in your personal discipleship growth by joining any of the SunRise worship options available either online or in-building. Our challenge to BE BOLD seems appropriately timed with our inspirational thought for today. I can attest that discouragement is a tool the devil uses often against me – and many times I fall into this trap. There is nothing to be ashamed of in falling, but where we are defeated is when we stay there. God always has greater tools to raise us up, than the devil has in his arsenal to push us down. Allowing God the opportunity to work in our lives is the difference-maker between our defeat and our victory. May we experience a victory in Jesus today!
Today in our pick verse (21), we conclude Paul’s four-verse teaching on the basics of the Christian home. The final relationship Paul addresses is between father and children. The command in verse twenty for children to obey is balanced by the command for fathers to not provoke their children. Fathers are to be careful and kind in their discipline so that they do not cause a child to become discouraged. Fathers should always correct their children lovingly, with spiritual maturity, and praying for guidance from the Holy Spirit. The ultimate goal of both father and mother is to instruct their children in the ways of the Lord and live a life that is an example of what is being taught. The old saying “do as I say not as I do” is not what God desires within the Christian home.

I must disagree with the thought today as I believe doubt is the devils greatest tool to distract us from God. Doubt will lead to discouragement.
