Thursday – July 1st – 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13     -----

5:12 And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you,
13 and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
A GOOD LEARNER IS ONE WHOSE EARS GET MORE USE THAN HIS OR HER MOUTH.*

Good Thursday to you! And welcome to the first day of the second half of 2021. Yes, we have reached the mid-point of our current journey around the sun. While July 1st isn’t as much a landmark day for resolutions as January 1st, it does provide an opportunity to re-set for the next 183 days of this year. What will you choose to focus on or add to your list of goal? Who might you include on your list of folks who need to hear about Jesus, or need to see you live your life as a follower of Jesus? Have you taken a moment to ask if what breaks your heart also breaks God’s heart? Our inspirational thought for today reminds us that we are life-long learners who should be more focused on asking questions than offering opinions.

Today in our pick verses we move into a final section of Paul’s first letter to the believers in Thessalonica. Paul is all about giving important advice on living harmoniously within the body of believers. Paul challenges the Thessalonians to show respect for their spiritual leaders through ongoing expressions of appreciation. How have your spiritual leaders and mentors helped you grow in your faith journey? When was the last time you have shown your appreciation through a kind word or a note of encouragement? As an extra special way of showing thanks who might you become a mentor to in the faith. The good news of the Gospel is not something we hold onto but something that is openly and freely shared.

Blessings
  Pastor Jim
