****Sorry Friends the website has been having problems the last two mornings!

Friday – July 9th – 1 Thessalonians 5:23 (second part)     -----
5:23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Our inspirational thought for today from the Daily Walk Bible:

Welcome to the Friday addition of the SunRise Daily Scripture Verse blog. I am blessed by your connection to this blog and your connection to a relationship with God. As this week winds down and the promise for the weekend ramps up, now is a great time to make plans for what is next in your spiritual walk. As people who desire to be fully committed in following Jesus, we must remember that there is always something to learn and always a way to grow stronger in our faith. Being satisfied with where we are in our discipleship path is actually a step backwards in growing closer to God.

Our pick verse for today is one of those rare verses in scripture that is so full of wisdom that we are taking a second day to continue to unpack its deeper meanings. In this verse Paul uses the word “sanctify” to describe the goal for believers to seek. Sanctification in not a human initiated accomplishment based on our own abilities to do or not to do something. God bestows this grace upon believers who are open to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Sanctify means more that an outward purification or consecration as in the Old Testament. New Testament sanctification frees the believer from sin and makes them pure and holy. Holiness reaches to the very core of our being through complete or entire sanctification. Every aspect of our life must be made holy. What is Christian holiness? Loving God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength. This strongly implies that no ill temper or any act contrary to love remains in our soul. All our thoughts, words, and actions are governed by the pure love that only comes from God. Well, that gives us something to work on this weekend.
