USELESS LIFE IS AS GOOD AS AN EARLY DEATH.*
Hello Sunday! What a great and glorious day God has given to us to enjoy life. Now the thing about that statement is that we tend to sift words like “great” and “glorious” and “enjoy” through the filter of what is happening in our life. It can be based on what the weather is doing, or what is happening in our relationships, it can depend on our bills to income ratio, or the status of our health. Yes, all those things are huge factors in how we feel about life, but God is faithful in pouring out blessings, sometimes unseen, upon our lives. Regardless of the other things happening around us never forget that you are loved unconditionally by God. Take a moment to lean into your relationship with God today.
Our three pick verses for today conclude Paul’s first letter to the believers in Thessalonica. Since this is believed to be the first epistle written by Paul, he uses the ending to establish what would become a fairly standard benediction in his writings. An early symbol of the connection between believers was to greet each other with a hug and a holy kiss on the cheek. It symbolized for the early church the importance of reconciliation and spiritual brotherhood. It is important to note that this interaction was gender specific and not a practice between members of the opposite sex. It is also important to note that verse twenty-seven indicates Paul’s desire for this letter to be shared with believers outside of the church in Thessalonica. Paul’s words still strike at the heart of being a faithful and faith-filled follower of Jesus unto our day and time. Paul concludes this letter with once again lifting up the wonderful, marvelous, priceless grace offered to us thought the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
