Sunday – July 18th – 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12     -----

1:11 Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power,
12 that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
MERCY WITHOUT JUSTICE BECOMES UNMERCIFUL; JUSTICE WITHOUT MERCY, UNJUST.*

Good Sunday to you!  What a great day to worship and praise God. This weekend we begin an awesome new series at SunRise – “Navigating Life”. The focus will be encouraging individual and/or family strategies to successful navigate the realities of this life as a fully committed follower of Jesus. In addition to weekend teachings the next three Wednesday evenings we have invited three powerful guest speakers to share their own insights in navigating life. Wednesday July 21st at 7pm our first guest speaker, Darryl Burton will share his story of forgiveness. After being incarcerated for 24 years for murder Darryl was found innocent of all charges and was released as a free man. God is powerfully using Darryl and his story to show the power and possibility of forgiveness regardless of life’s circumstances. To attend any or all of these Wednesday events you will need to reserve your seat at www.sunrisefamily.org/life

In our pick verses today, Paul closes out chapter one and his teaching on the final judgement and the glory when Jesus returns with a prayer for the believers in Thessalonica. Motivated by the assurance of Jesus’ second coming Paul prays for the work of faith being carried on by the Thessalonian believers. This prayer is filled with Paul’s acknowledgment that personal holiness from God is vital for the strength, peace, and protection for all believers anywhere and at any point in history. The name of the Lord Jesus Christ is glorified in us and we in Him when we live in a way that brings honor and glory to Jesus’ name. What can we do today to lift up what Jesus has done for us and for our eternal destiny?

Blessings
  Pastor Jim
