Thursday – July 22nd – 2 Thessalonians 2:5-6     -----

2:5 Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things?
6 And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WALKING BY FAITH MEANS BEING PREPARED TO TRUST WHERE WE ARE NOT PERMITTED TO SEE.*

Happy, healthy, and blessed Thursday to you. Such a greeting seems highly appropriate for a Thursday in late July. Even today’s inspirational thought reminds us of the importance of having the proper attitude when it comes to faith. By nature, humanity has evolved into a people who rely on their ability to logically explain every bit of what happens around us. Yes, there is a fundamental importance to be informed and to understand the world around us. But for me there are those moments when all the collective wisdom of humanity cannot come up with a logical or reasonable explanation. That my friends is where I see God at work. As a follower of Jesus, I can accept that there will be things in life I am “not permitted to see” or understand. And, as a follower of Jesus, I am okay with simply “walking by faith”. Today I would encourage you to close your eyes (metaphorically) and try to walk through today by faith alone. You might be surprised where God takes you and what you really “see”.

Our pick verse today is Paul’s third installment of providing insight to the workings of the lawless one who comes as the enemy of God. The restraining power Paul alludes to has not yet been identified either in his time or in in our time today. One thought is that it might be the civil order established by God to curb the power of evil in society. However, in verse 7, the restraining power is spoken of as a person, perhaps in Paul’s day the Roman emperor, the embodiment of Roman law which ruled the land occupied by the Thessalonians. Others believe Paul has in view the sum total of moral power that resides in the church through the power and person of the Holy Spirit. Whatever the case, God is in charge. The “man of sin” cannot appear until God permits it.

Blessings
