Friday – July 23rd – 2 Thessalonians 2:7-8 -----
2:7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.
8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.

Happy Friday to you! Yes, we have arrived at the end of another work week. I pray your week has been a blessing to you and you have been a blessing to others. I hope you took some time to let today’s inspirational thought soak in. I will admit it took a couple of readings and some quality contemplation time to really reap the harvest of the spiritual depth of the words. The human aspect of salvation comes down to the simple, yet complex, concept of “faith” in God’s promises. Faith leads us to see life through the lens of the Kingdom of Heaven. How is your faith level today?
Paul continues today with his teaching on the lawless one’s opposition to God’s love and grace. This section of 2 Thessalonians is Paul’s quick take on end time events that we will eventually take up in fuller detail when we get to John’s revelation at the end of the Bible. The “mystery of lawlessness” are the forces of Satanic evil at work in the world. Paul states this lawless man will appear and present themself as one who has completely thrown off all moral restraints. Satan’s plan will culminate in the sudden rise of acceptance and increase of popularity of this man of sin and lawlessness. This person, as part of their deceitful plan, will claim the place of rightfully belonging to Christ. But when the Lord returns, He will consume and destroy this Antichrist. What a great reminder that we are to be grounded in God’s word so as not to be led astray by popular opinion or shallow talking/teaching people.
