Saturday – July 24th – 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10     -----

2:9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,
10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational though for today:

Happy Saturday to you!  The weekend is here, and opportunities abound to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation. However, from the prediction of the temperatures the observation of God’s handiwork might best be viewed through a rather large window in a room controlled with air conditioning. While you are seeking the cool of the inside don’t forget to schedule some time for SunRise worship this weekend – either online or inbuilding. Our current series is “Navigating Life” and the focus this week is on “forgiveness”. Who among us doesn’t need a great teaching on being better at forgiving others? By the way if you missed our Wednesday night speaker series you can catch it on-demand through the SunRise app - either on your phone or on your TV. Darryl Burton’s powerful story of finding a heart for forgiveness will touch both your heart and your soul deeply.

In our pick verses today, Paul continues to enlighten the Thessalonian believers on the tactics of the one he calls the “lawless one”. The lawless one, or Antichrist, will be empowered by Satan to counterfeit the miracles of Jesus with power, signs, and wonders. This is much like the works of Pharaoh’s magicians who attempted to repeat God’s miracles performed through Moses. The lawless one’s counterfeits will be “lying” wonders because the end game is to lead people away from God. This deception will attempt to mislead believers, but those who cling to the truth of the Gospel will see through these tricks and hold fast to Jesus. Those, both non-believers and believers who turn their back on God will perish. The devil’s main job is to disrupt our relationship with God and will use and utilize any of our personal areas of weakness as a point of attack.  Our main job is to resist the devil and he will flee!

Blessings
