3:16 Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all. 17 The salutation of Paul with my own hand, which is a sign in every epistle; so I write.
18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE MOST DANGEROUS OF ALL FALSE DOCTRINES ARE THOSE SEASONED WITH A LITTLE TRUTH.*

Hello Thursday!!  Hope your week is going well and you have been blessed by the Lord over and over again this week. Our inspirational thought is a power-packed statement that requires all of us to stop and evaluate what we believe and hold as “our truth”. As we have been reading throughout Paul’s letters, we quickly discover the early churches were inundated with no shortage of “false teachings” concerning Jesus and the Christian faith. Sadly, not much has changed in almost 2000 years of Christianity, there remains an abundance of false teachers spewing heresy and sowing discord in our day and time. And as our inspirational thought reminds us there is just enough of a seasoning of truth contained in their false teachings for many people to be led astray. So how do we avoid being tricked into chasing after lies and godless myths? We utilize the power of the Holy Spirit to help us read, pray, and discern Godly truth. We also engage in Christian conversation that holds us accountable to biblical truth. It can become way too easy to work around scriptures that we don’t like or manipulate its meaning to fit our agenda or narrative, but the reality is that a false doctrine creates a false God. And that my friends creates a straight path to unavoidable destruction and separation from God.

In our pick verses today, Paul closes out this second letter to the believers in Thessalonica with his personal and heartfelt benediction to them. Paul reminds them, that through it all, Jesus is the Lord of all peace. Jesus alone is the source of wholeness and well-being. He restores our broken relationship with God and gives us the opportunity to repair our relationships with one another. A life filled with peace has God’s forgiveness and healed relationships as its foundation. Interestingly Paul includes a statement that this benediction was signed by Paul and that he approves of the full contents of this letter. He felt this necessary so there was no doubt that he was the author of this letter.
***Daily Blog programing note***  I will be traveling over the next few weeks with limited (at best) internet access so we will be taking a sabbatical from the Daily Scripture Verse beginning tomorrow Friday August 4th through Friday August 20th. We will resume on Saturday August 21st with a new book of the Bible – 1st Timothy.  In the meantime I would encourage to go back and re-read or pick up on the blogs you may have missed since the first of the year – they are located on the SunRise website under “Daily Scripture”.

Blessings
  Pastor Jim
